Why is Ferret Complete healthier?
Ferret Complete is the first British food formulated specifically for ferrets needs.
Since ferrets are carnivores, their primary protein source must be meat. But they have
higher energy needs and a shorter digestive tract than cats or dogs. Plus their digestions
are relatively inefficient at absorbing vegetable proteins. So ferrets derive little
benefit from the corn and soya protein sources found in many cat and dog foods.
By contrast, the main protein source in Ferret Complete is fine quality turkey meat meal,
to give the correct higher protein level of 36% that ferrets need.
Fat is a principal source of energy for ferrets, so fat is a vital ingredient in their
nutrition. Ferret Complete has a high fat level of 19%, derived mainly from turkey fat and
fish meal. The food also includes ground whole linseed for soft, shiny coats.
Up to now, many owners have fed their ferrets day-old chicks and raw meat. These attract
flies and can rapidly go bad, causing stomach upsets. Plus, new evidence suggests that the
egg white found in chicks can cause bald patches in ferrets coats. Much better to feed
Ferret Complete, which stays fresh for days in the bowl. And produces firmer stools,
easier for you to clean up.
To help maintain your ferret's health and longevity, we now add a natural source of M.O.S
(Manno-Oligosaccharides). This helps to simulate your ferret's immune system, reduce the
build up of pathogens such as salmonella and e-coli, and increase the beneficial
lactobacillus.
Ferret Complete is loved by ferrets and recommended by experts.
Ferret Complete is not only healthy and nutritious, it is also very tasty. Coated in
delicious turkey gravy and made in their favourite star shape, it is irresistible to
ferrets. The food is recommended by a wide variety of clubs, societies and rescue centres.
Notably, National Ferret Welfare Society, International Ferret Welfare of Great Britain
and the National Ferret School.

gradually decreasing liquid. Replace any uneaten damp food with fresh after a few hours.
From 4 weeks, offer only dry food.
Up to 16 weeks: Free feed, allowing animals to clean out the bowls every 2 or 3 days to
maintain food freshness. At this age, daily food consumption will be approx. 7% of body
weight (e.g. approx. 35gm of food for 500gm ferret).
Adult Ferrets: Free feed, but restrict diet to approx. 5% of body weight if animals get
too heavy (e.g. approx. 75gm of food for 1500gm ferret).
Final 2 weeks gestation/lactation: Free feed without restriction.
The above guidelines can only be approximate as requirements vary from animal to animal.
Supply plenty of clean fresh drinking water at all times. When switching from other foods
allow 7 days for digestion to settle.
